
A car collided with a building in Washington Sunday. Just before 6 p.m., the Washington Police Department received a report of a vehicle colliding with the DNR Field Office at 1023 W. Madison Street. Officers arrived on scene to find a Saturn Aura Sedan, driven by 23-year-old Nelso Morales, had gone through the front entrance. According to the report, Morales attempted to drive off of the property, but the vehicle was still in drive, not reverse, entered the building and was disabled. No injuries were reported.
Further investigation showed that Morales was not the registered owner of the vehicle, did not have consent to operate the vehicle involved, and did not have a valid drivers license or proof of insurance. He was arrested for operation of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and received citations for failure to possess a valid drivers license while operating a motor vehicle, and failure to provide financial liability insurance in regards to an accident. Moore’s towing removed the vehicle from the building. Damage to the DNR Office was estimated at $2,000, and vehicle damage estimated at $3,000.
