The American Legion Post 29 in Washington is hosting an essay contest and announcing the winner. Area fifth-grade students were asked to write an essay focused on the topic ‘What the flag means to me.’  The winner will be selected on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Blair House.

Last year, the winner was Elian Ramirez of St. James.
