A new mural is coming to the City of Hills. Work is progressing on a collaboration between Hills Hometown Pride and the University of Iowa Office of Community Engagement to bring a mural to the town. Artist Drew Etienne of Iowa City has been commissioned to work on the piece, which will be done in panels and then installed at their completion. Etienne is the artist behind works found in Lone Tree, Cedar Rapids, Durant, Tipton, Maquoketa, and various locations around Iowa City including the Pedestrian Mall, University of Iowa campus, and more.

The Hills mural features an iconic scene from the town including local buildings, baseball, corn fields, fireworks, and the city name. The project was made possible by an Iowa Economic Development Authority Art Project Grant for the amount of $3,633, which was awarded for fiscal year 2025. The finished project will be installed on the exterior wall of the Hills Fire Station, at the corner of Oak Street and First Street, facing the Songbird Sanctuary Park.
