Two local archery teams set their sights on high scores and a trip to the Eastern National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky later this spring with their performance at the National Archery in the Schools Program Iowa State Bullseye and 3D Championships in Des Moines.

The Washington Demons qualified five of their six possible teams for Nationals. The high school Demons finished 10th of 34 teams in bullseye and advanced. Top girls performer was Ryen Pepper finishing 46th of 414, and Killian Ribble led the boys placing 69th of 406. The high schoolers were 17th of 29 competing teams in 3D. Hannah Lipski led the Demon girls finishing 21st of 200, while Braydon Clough was best for the boys at 94th of 271 shooters.

The Washington middle school block and 3D teams both qualified for nationals. The block team placed third in Iowa of 27 teams. Hunter Barnes finished fourth of 493 boys competing, the top Demon placement. Bella Venenga led the Washington girls in 28th of 311. The middle school 3D team finished fifth of 26 teams. Barnes was the boys best again, placing seventh of 255, while Addyson Neer led the girls placing 17th of 165.

The Lincoln Demons also qualified both of their teams for nationals. In bullseye Washington was fifth of nine schools, led by Logan Hotchkiss who placed ninth of 204 boys, while Kaylee McFarland led the Demon girls in 13th place of 127. The Lincoln Demons were third of six schools in 3D. Hotchkiss was the boys leader again, finishing third of 91, and McFarland paced the Demon girls at 17th of 39.

The Golden Hawk archery club qualified one high school and one middle school team for nationals. The high school Hawks 3D team finished third of 29 schools, led by an individual girls state championship for freshman Lael Seale and her blistering round of 293 to beat the field of 200. Elijah Statler had the best boys’ day placing 13th of 234. In block, the Hawks were 11th of 27 teams. Top girls finisher was Averi Janecek 13th of 414, while Landon Kuenster led the boys in 33rd of 496.

For the middle school Hawks, the bullseye team is headed to nationals after finishing seventh of 27 teams. Noah Coblentz paced the MP boys finishing 12th of 493 with Kylee Berry with a 78th place finish of 311 was best for the girls. In 3D, the Golden Hawks ended 18th of 29 schools. Preston Ford led the boys to place 28th of 255, with the girls Mya Brenneman best at 103rd of 165.

All teams and individuals who finish in the top 10 of the high school, middle school, and elementary divisions qualify for the national tournament to be held May 8th through the 10th at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
