The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls track teams were flying high at last week’s Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor State Championship meet on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames. The Ravens came home with three individual Class 1A State titles between the boys meet Thursday and girls meet Friday, all belonging to the Scott siblings, Owen and Rya. On Friday, Rya was a dual title winner, taking the 60m dash in 7.96 seconds. She won the long jump with a leap of 16’2.25 inches. On Thursday, Owen demolished the long jump field, winning the state title by flying 21’2.50”, beating second place by more than a foot.
Other top Hillcrest performances for the week in Ames included Rya Scott fifth in the 200, Siena Stanerson eighth in the 3000, Delaney Shaw ninth in long jump and Marie Yoder 10th in the 3000 and 11th in the 1500.
The Raven girls finished ninth in Class 1A with 25 points. The Raven boys were 22nd with 10 points.
