The Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Pizza Ranch All-Star Game will have some local flavor. In the girls contest, WACO Warrior senior Ella Huisenga will compete on the Southeast Team. Huisenga, a First-Team All-Southeast Iowa Superconference selection, finished this season with 184 rebounds, sixth in conference. Huisenga shot 39.2% from the floor, eighth in the league and 31.5% from three, fourth best in the SEISC, with a 57.7% mark at the line, ninth in the Superconference, scoring 250 total points 10th in the Superconference. Huisenga had 52 assists and 96 made shots, both 10th in the conference. Her 41 made free throws were 9th.

Warrior head coach Lisa Graber will be on the sidelines for the girls Southeast Iowa Team. In her five seasons at WACO she has a 64-50 overall record, including a 15-9 mark last season. She will share the All-Star coaching duties with Solon’s Jamie Smith. The girls Southeast team roster includes, Ellen Cook of Montezuma, Kobi Lietz of Solon, Ayla Hall of HLV, Breckyn Schilling of North Mahaska, Lauren Walker of Central DeWitt, Carley Rich of Williamsburg, Journey Houston of Davenport North, Adrianna Howard of Centerville, August Palmer of Iowa City High, Divine Bourrage of Davenport North, and Dasia Foster of Oskaloosa.

The boys Southeast Iowa Team will be coached by Mid-Prairie alum Jason Kern. Kern, a member of the 2007 2A State runner-up Golden Hawk basketball team, has spent the last seven seasons at West Branch, compiling a 105-54 overall record, with a pair of River Valley South Division Championships. He’s joined by Iowa City West’s Steve Bergman on the bench. The boys roster includes Hakeal Powell from Prince of Peace, Landen Norris from Knoxville, Gavin Kramer from Northeast Goose Lake, Asher De Boef from North Mahaska, KJ Rice of Centerville, Elias Vargas of Davenport Center, Mason Watkins of West Burlington, Luke Hellige of Holy Trinity Catholic, Kayvion Hodges of Muscatine, Jack McCaffery of Iowa City West and Zach Butler of Tipton.

All games will be played Saturday, March 29th at Dallas Center Grimes High School.
