The challenge of the Highland bond election results is being reviewed by the district courts and a hearing date has been set. The appeal was filed in February, and the District Court will hold a hearing on April 15th.

Highland Superintendent Ken Crawford states the judge will hear oral arguments related to the bond vote results and subsequent challenge. The judge could then make a ruling or set an additional court date for final arguments if needed.

The issue stems from the November election results that showed a $15-million bond was approved with 61-percent of the vote in which some voters in the Ainsworth district were given the wrong ballots.

The result of the bond passing was upheld by a contest court in January with a split decision of 2-1.

KCII will bring more information as it becomes official.
