Momentum continues to build for the Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls track and field teams through the indoor meet season. Both the Raven boys and girls teams traveled to Central College last week for their final indoor event of the year.
The Raven girls left dutch country with five top 10 finishes, led by four from Rya Scott. The reigning KCII Area Athlete of the Week finished third in the long jump at 15’8.25”, fourth in the prelims of the 60m at 8.16 seconds and seventh in the finals at 8.14 seconds, then placed 10th in the 200 at 27.70 seconds. Siena Stanerson was fourth in the 3000 at 11:43.85. Other Ravens incuded Marie Yoder 12th in the 1500, Stanerson 20th in the same event, Stavia Miller 63rd in the 60m and 106th in the 200.
For the Raven boys Owen Scott led the way, finishing runner-up in long jump at 21’8”. He was also 14th in the 60m dash and 46th in the 200. Braden Hartsock was 12th in the two-mile and 48th in the mile. The 4×200 of Owen and Gibson Scott, Kale Bailey and Kayden Estell were 17th, Gibson Scott was 19th in the 60m hurdles and 109th in the 200. Estell was 64th in the 60m and 102nd in the 200.
The Ravens open the outdoor season Tuesday at Wapello.
