A new trial date has been scheduled for a Kalona man facing arson charges. Reuven Miller has pleaded not guilty to the charges of arson in the first degree, a class B felony, and harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. A jury trial was originally scheduled for March, but has been pushed back to May 13th.

On January 28th at 9:57 a.m., according to court documents, Miller was arrested in Kalona. He had told authorities that he was inside a house with a bomb and his father. Allegedly Miller attempted to light the house on fire and had boxes of fireworks side by side. Nine of the fireworks exploded, but the house did not catch fire.

Miller was arrested and bond was set at $100,000. As of Tuesday, he remains in the Washington County Jail.
