The lights will shine brightly at Case Field for the first time this spring when the Washington Demons host the annual Steve Roth Relays Thursday. Twenty-one schools will bring their boy’s track teams to compete.
Locally, six schools will be in the spotlight. It’s the first outdoor event of the year for the Washington Demons, Keota Eagles and WACO Warriors. It’s the second time this week that Columbus, Highland and Winfield-Mt. Union will all be on the outdoor oval, after competing at the Columbus Early Bird at L-M Monday, where the Wildcat boys won their home meet team title, the Wolves were third and the Huskies were eighth.
Those six teams will be joined by Cedar Rapids Prairie, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Burlington, Carlisle, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Iowa City Liberty, Mediapolis, Monticello, Mount Pleasant, Ottumwa, and West Burlington.
Along with the usual meet program, Washington will be hosting a pair of alumni track events including a 600m run and an 8×50 relay from 5-6p.m. Action starts with field events at 2:30p.m. Thursday at Case Field in Washington.
