
March was warmer and dryer than average in Washington this year. According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the average temperature was 44.3 degrees, about eight degrees above normal. Just under two inches of precipitation was observed, while the normal amount is 2.32 inches for the third month of the year. In addition, there were only trace amounts of snowfall and the normal amount is 2.3 inches.
So far this year, the observed precipitation and snowfall has been below normal. This winter, only 7.6 inches of snow were observed in Washington, just 31-percent of the normal amount. Rainfall has been 3.5 inches, about 1.5 inches below normal.
