Thirty-seven-year-old Nelson Overholt of Wellman is facing felony sex charges against a minor, among other offenses, after an incident in October. According to the official criminal complaint, on October 11 of 2024, Overholt allegedly began communicating with a female he believed to be under the age of 16. In those conversations he stated that he wanted to engage in sex acts with the female, sent nude photos of his genitalia and made arrangements to meet the girl at her residence to engage in the acts. When Overholt arrived at the predetermined location in Iowa City, he was detained by authorities.

Overholt has been charged with enticing a minor under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose, a Class D felony, and telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor, first offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. His initial appearance in Johnson County court was Friday. Bond was set at $10,000.
