Anticipated plantings and harvests of corn, soybeans, oats, and hay in Iowa have been announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. According to the report released on Monday, Iowa’s farmers intend to plant 13.5 million acres of corn. This is an increase of 600,000 acres from last year. In regards to soybeans, 9.6 million acres of soybeans are expected to be planted this year. That figure shows a decrease of 450,000 acres from last year.

Oats are up about 5,000 acres from 2024, for a total of 150,000 acres. Also, farmers in Iowa are expected to harvest just over one million acres of all dry hay, about 10,000 more acres than last year.
