
Two local schools take their boys and girls track teams to the Mount Pleasant Co-Ed Relays Thursday. The Washington Demon boys and girls will both be in action. The Demon boys last ran Monday at the Falcon Relays at West Burlington where the headliners were Greyson Hartman as a double winner in the shot put and discus, Tyler Alderton with a win in the mile, and Sawyer Tschantz a two-mile victory.
For the Washington girls, it was a dominant performance Tuesday at the Falcon Relays at West Burlington where they scored 10 event wins. Iris Dahl won the 800 and 3000 titles, Leighton Messinger the 100 hurdles and high jump, Jaslyn Villa the 400 and long jump, Jaedyn Moore the 200, Emma Horak the 1500, Taylor Miksch the discus and Villa, Dahl, Layla Green and Kendall Hinrichsen in the 4×400.
It’s the first outdoor event of the year for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls. The Hawks last competed over a week ago at the River Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Dubuque. The boys won the team RVC title with event championships for Emmett Swartzentruber in the two-mile, Jayse Yoder in the 800 and Burke Berry in shot put. The Golden Hawk girls were team conference runners-up with three individual titles for Jeorgia Evans in the 55m, 200m and long jump.
The Demons and Hawks are joined tonight in Mount Pleasant by Davenport Assumption, Burlington, Fairfield, Keokuk, Ottumwa, West Burlington and the home Panthers. Action starts tonight at 4:30p.m. At the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex in Mount Pleasant.
