Residents in Louisa County are invited to participate in a local fundraiser to repopulate local waterways. The Louisa County Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders in April for fish to stock ponds. Available species are channel catfish, bluegill, sunfish, bass, black crappie, grass carp, koi, golden shiners and fathead minnows. Fish will be delivered Saturday, May 10th from 11 a.m. to noon at the Louisa County USDA NRCS Office in Wapello.
For a full list of pricing and availability email jamie.stewart@usda.gov. Profits from the fish sales go to programs with Louisa County Conservation.
