The Washington Demon girls’ track & field team dominated Tuesday at the the Falcon Relays in West Burlington with 10 total wins in the Class A division. Junior Iris Dahl had a pair of those victories for Washington, winning the 800-meter run in two minutes 29 seconds and the 3,000 meters in 11:34.

Junior Leighton Messinger won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.37 seconds and also cleared four feet 10 inches to win the high jump, while freshman Jaslyn Villa took the open 400 in 1:07 and leaped 15 feet five inches to take first in the long jump.

Jaedyn Moore would take gold for the Demons in the 200 with a time of 28.07 seconds, as did fellow sophomore Emma Horak in the 1,500 in just under five-and-a-half minutes, while junior Taylor Miksch won the discus throw with a top toss of 96 feet seven inches.

The team of Villa, Dahl, sophomore Layla Green and senior Kendall Hinrichsen would claim Washington’s final victory by clocking in at nearly 4:39 in the 4-by-400-meter relay.

The Demons would also claim second in the 4-by-100, 4-by-200, 4-by-800 and the sprint medley. Moore would end up second in the 100. as would Hinrichsen in the 800 and freshman Lauren Drahota in the 400.

Third-place finishes came from Green in the high jump, Villa in the 200, senior Isabella Lujan in the 3,000 and freshman Kinley Miksch in the discus.

WACO was a winner in four different events in the Class B division at West Burlington. Sophomore Carlee Lunsford had one of those victories in the 800 in right at two-and-a-half minutes, while Josie Dykstra clocked in at 1:16 to claim the 400 hurdles and fellow freshman Bren Graber cleared four feet 10 inches to win the high jump.

Lunsford, Dykstra and Graber joined sophomore Natalie Wagler to win the distance medley in just under 4:43. while Graber was second in the 100 hurdles and freshman Trinity Dean was third in the 1,500. The Warriors also claimed a silver medal in the sprint medley and bronze in the 4-by-200.

Winfield-Mount Union would get a pair of victories from freshman Kynlee Buffington, who leapt nearly 16-and-a-half feet to win the long jump and posted a time of 28.88 seconds to finish first in the 200. Buffington also took second in the 400.

Senior Josie Nelson would be first in the 100 hurdles in just under 17 seconds and would also take third in the 100 open for the Wolves, as did freshman teammate Aubrey Valencia in the 800.
