A longstanding tradition will see its next chapter Saturday when the Hillcrest Academy Alumni Association hosts their annual turkey steak supper. The event, held in conjunction with the Washington Township Optimists, begins at 4:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Union. The menu includes marinated turkey steak, baked potato, baked beans, salad, dinner roll and dessert for a free will donation. Dine-in or takeout is available. Hillcrest Academy Director of Advancement Jeremy Ours tells KCII news about the preparation for the event, “Like any of our fundraiser meals, there is a fair amount of planning that goes into each one. Almost exclusively our volunteers come from our local churches and they’re almost always alumni. There’s also the Washington Township Optimists. They’re the ones that take of all of the grilling and the turkey. We couldn’t do this without the Washington Township Optimists.”
