Students and veterans will have the opportunity to connect through a quilting project in Washington. The Washington County Extension and Outreach office is bringing back a quilt camp for the 2025 summer season. Students in 6th through 12th grade have the opportunity to learn from sewing volunteers and create quilts of valor for local veterans.

The finished quilts will be exhibited during the Washington County Fair. On July 18th at the fair, the quilts will be presented to veterans.

The aim of the club is to teach students sewing skills and develop an interest in quilting, while providing an artistic and creative opportunity, while getting a chance to support and know a veteran from the community.

Last year, in its inaugural year, 10 veterans were presented handmade patriotic quilts.

Registration is open now. The camp will be held 9 a.m. to noon June 16-20 at the Washington County Extension Office.
