The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls golf teams are in their second events of the season tonight, a River Valley Conference dual against the West Branch Bears. The Golden Hawk boys are 1-0 after a 165-170 win over Iowa City Regina in their opener, led by a one-over-par 37 from Clayton Davidson. West Branch started the year at the Solon Invitational where they won the team title with a 317, led by Sawyer Jeffries 77. The Bears dropped their first conference dual 160-162 a week ago at West Liberty, despite McGavin Smith’s 38. Mid-Prairie won the last dual between these two in 2023, 177-185, led by a medalist round of 42 from Bryce Henry.

The Golden Hawk girls are 1-0 after rolling through Iowa City Regina on the road in their opener last week 197-250. The Hawks swept the hardware with Addison English putting together a medalist round of 44 and Olivia Swartzentruber runner-up at 48. West Branch is also 1-0 this year after opening with a 222-228 win at home over West Liberty where the Bears Olivia Thomas was medalist with a 48 and Romy Springensguth was runner-up at 50. The Golden Hawks won this matchup last year 202-209.

Action starts tonight at 4p.m. With the boys in Kalona and girls at Cedar’s Edge in West Branch.
