
Washington County remains drought-free while conditions continue to improve across the state, according to the most recent data released by the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Henry and Jefferson counties are also untouched by drought along with the vast majority of both Louisa and Keokuk counties, with just 0.06% of Louisa and 0.13% of Keokuk considered abnormally dry. Those numbers were unchanged from last week.
Iowa County has the driest conditions currently in the KCII listening area, with 51.37% of the county listed as abnormally dry and 32.58% of the county in moderate drought, a slight uptick from last week.
Statewide, 29.28% of Iowa is in a moderate drought, a four-point improvement from last week’s figures, while 49.34% of the state is abnormally dry and 21.38% of the state is drought-free.
