
The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves won another boys’ golf conference dual Thursday over Columbus, finishing with a combined team score of 167 strokes that was over 40 less than the Wildcats at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield.
Justin Knipfer led WMU by shooting the medalist round of four-over-par 40, adding a birdie on the second hole to three bogeys. Fellow sophomore Cody Milks and junior Max Edwards tied for runner-up status by each firing a 42, while junior Konner Kinneberg was fourth overall with a 43.
A 44 for junior Nick Sparrow and a 45 by senior Sinjin Brown rounded out a second team victory on the season for Winfield-Mount Union. Senior Ryan Coil had the best round for Columbus and was tied for fifth by carding a 44 that included six bogeys, while junior Kason Dopler had a 48 for the Wildcats and senior Mason Heck added a 58.
While there was no head-to-head team competition, junior Kellee Milks had the low round with a 52 for the Wolves. Junior Ella Kann and freshman Ashlyn Bender added rounds of 56 and 55 for WMU, respectively, while Kinlee Brown paced the Wildcats with a 53. Fellow junior Hailey Wellington had a 54, one stroke better than senior teammate Aracely Garza.
The Highland Huskies also earned a girls’ conference win Thursday by defeating Wapello, posting a team score of 201 that was 38 strokes better than the Arrows. Adisyn Prottsman shot the medalist round of 42 to pace the Huskies, while fellow junior Emersyn Schultz finished with 49 and senior Adeline Krotz fired a 53.
Freshman Joslyn Prottsman added a 57 as Highland wins for the third time in as many events in 2025. The boys’ team score of 243 would be 60 strokes back of Wapello. Senior Ryker Miller and sophomore Tyson Grout led the Huskies by each carding a 56, while sophomore Issac Giesmann added a 58.
