The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams return home Monday for a pair of River Valley Conference matches against the Monticello Panthers.

The Golden Hawk girls have back-to-back wins to move to 2-2-1 this year, outscoring Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union and Central Lee 10-1 in that span. The Hawks have two assists, 22 shots on goal, 16 corner kicks, and a 79% team save percentage. Individually, the trio of Lydia Beachy, Meadow Flynn and Kyla Karnes all have three goals. Flynn, Kassidi Greiner and Brooklyn Schneider all have one assist each. Niva Helmuth has 32 saves.

This is the season opener for Monticello, who was 0-13 last year. The Panthers were outscored 94-1. Sam Ruchti is back in goal after stopping 267 shots as a sophomore. The Golden Hawks won this match a year ago 5-0 and have won five straight in the series.

The Golden Hawk boys are in search of their first win after losses to Columbus, West Liberty, Williamsburg and Highland by a combined 22-2 score. Against the Wildcats the Hawks dropped the match 3-2, but got their first goals of the season, one from Ashton Townsend, the other from Kale Miller. Jacob Flynn has 34 saves in goal.

Monticello is 0-1 after an 11-1 loss to Western Dubuque where Griffin Brokaw scored the goal and Caleb Tubbs made 16 saves. The Golden Hawks won this match last year 4-0 and have taken 11 straight in the series. Action starts tonight at 5p.m. At the Wellman Rotary Soccer Fields.
