The Sigourney Savages earned the team title at the Keota Boys’ Golf Invitational Thursday at Lagos Acres Golf Course, finishing with a combined team score of 316 strokes that was 10 less than second-place Prairie City-Monroe and 16 better than the hosting Eagles.

Junior Solon Yates led the Savages and was the individual tournament champion by shooting a four-over-par 76. Senior teammate Isaac Bruns was only one stroke back of him in a tie for second overall, while freshman Jordan Tremmel fired an 81 and sophomore Ike Molyneux carded an 82.

Senior Cain Weber added an 86 and junior Josh Wyatt finished with 91 as Sigourney wins its second event of the season. On their way to a third-place finish as a team, Keota was led on their home course by a five-over 77 from sophomore Brennan McGuire.

Senior Billie Kindred and sophomore Porter Cave each added an 82 for the Eagles, while sophomore Tucker Sprouse posted a 91. Keota did win its first meet of the season Thursday, beating both Iowa Valley and North Mahaska in a triangular at Marengo Golf Club with a team score of 166.

Kindred and McGuire split medalist honors by each shooting a 38, while Cave tied for third overall with a 43. Junior Jake Morris added a 47 for the Eagles, with sophomore Tucker Sprouse finishing with 51 and sophomore Cooper Strand carding a 56.
