New and repaired ethanol pumps will be coming to the KCII listening area, as the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship announced its latest round of Renewable Fuel Infrastructure Program (RFIP) awards. IDALS approved 112 ethanol awards and two biodiesel awards across the state.

The Kalona Kwik Trip received the grant’s maximum of $75,000.  The Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield Hy-Vee gas stations, received $5,577.73 and $6,794.59, respectively. In Iowa County, the Williamsburg Casey’s received $4,925.70, and the Williamsburg Multi-County Oil Co. received $64,000.

RFIP grants are cost-sharing grants designed to help retailers with the installing, replacing, or converting of fuel infrastructure that can support renewable fuels. The grants cover 90% of the costs for retailers that have never stored or dispensed E-15 fuel with 10 or fewer gas stations and total fuel gallonage less than 140,000, 75% for such retailers with total fuel gallonage more than 140,000, and 70% for all other retailers.

This round of awards comes ahead of the E-15 Fuel Access Standard, set to go into effect on January 1, 2026, which requires most gas stations and fuel retailers to offer E-15.
