The Washington Demon boys’ track and field team came away with the team championship last night at the Denny White Relays in Mount Pleasant, finishing with a score of 82 points that was six more than Fort Madison and Mediapolis, who tied for second place. Washington was led by sophomore Greyson Hartman, who won the shot put with a top toss of 57 feet four inches.

Junior Kael Williams finished second in the 100-meter dash for the Demons, as did junior Carson Ryan in the 400-meter hurdles. Washington was also runner-up in the 4-by-800-meter relay and took third in the 4-by-100, 4-by-200 and 4-by-400.

Winfield-Mount Union got a victory from senior Kohlby Newsom, claiming the title in the 1,600 meters in four minutes 38 seconds. The Wolves’ sprint medley relay was also victorious in just under 1:37, as was their distance medley at 3:42.

Junior Jude Dykstra had WACO’s best finish by taking the silver medal in the 800, while sophomore Hayden Shelman earned bronze in the 200 for the Warriors.
