
Overnight storms prompted weather warnings in southeast Iowa early Friday. At 1:11a.m., the National Weather Service Office in the Quad Cities issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Washington, northwestern Louisa, southeastern Johnson and southwestern Muscatine counties through 1:45a.m. The main threats with the storm were radar indicated 60 mile per hour wind gusts and quarter sized hail. Dime-sized hail was reported by trained spotters in Tiffin and North Liberty in Johnson County. Kalona and Riverside each received one half inch of rain, Lone Tree received three-tenths of an inch, Washington one quarter inch and Columbus Junction one tenth of an inch of rain.
The forecast this weekend calls for temperatures climbing into the 50s and 60s with showers possible Sunday. The one to count on is AM and FM KCII.
