Thursday proved to be a tough trip north for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk soccer clubs as they fell in both ends of a doubleheader against Cedar Valley Christian. In the opener, the CVC girls shut out the Hawks 2-0. The Huskies scored twice before halftime and played lock down defense to make those tallies stand up in the win. Mid-Prairie had 14 total shots, three on goal and eight corner kicks but couldn’t find the back of the net. Meadow Flynn, Maya Banuelos and Brooklyn Schneider each had a shot on frame. Niva Helmuth led the Golden Hawk defense with a pair of saves. The loss snaps the Golden Hawks three match winning streak and drops them to 3-3-1 on the year, the Huskies improve to 3-2.

The boys contest featured more strong defense from the home team in a 3-1 CVC victory. The Huskies out shot the Hawks 13-3 in the match. Mid-Prairie won corners 4-2. Kale Miller had the Golden Hawk goal, his club leading third of the season, on an assist from Peyton Fox, his first of the year. Mid-Prairie falls to 1-4 with the loss as CVC stands at 4-2-1 after the win. The Mid-Prairie boys and girls return home Monday to meet West Branch.
