The Washington Demon boys’ golf team triumphed once more in a Southeast Conference meet yesterday at Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club. Washington finished with a combined team score of 160 strokes, six less than second-place Mount Pleasant and 12 better than third-place Fort Madison.

Drew Conrad led the Demons by shooting the meet medalist round of one-under-par 35, collecting birdies on the fourth and fifth holes and doing no worse than a bogey on the eighth.

Fellow junior Carson Brown was tied for third overall with a 39, birdieing the fourth and sixth to go with two double-bogeys. Sophomore Kaleb Orr and seniors Cole Vetter and Conner Leyden each added a 43 for Washington, while sophomore Ethan Peebler carded a 49.

The Demon girls finished fourth as a team while playing their conference meet at Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk. Sophomore Lucy Sands shot an 11-over 48 to pace Washington and tied for seventh overall, while senior Lauren Hinrichsen had a 50 and freshman Elizabeth Hora carded a 51.

Junior Presley Hora added a 59 for the Demons. While the Washington girls next play Monday at Mount Pleasant, the Demon boys are in action today and tomorrow at the Dutch Masters in Pella.
