The Highland Huskies got back to their winning ways on the soccer pitch Thursday, defeating Sigourney-Keota 6-1. Highland countered SK’s only goal of the match and then some, building a 4-1 lead by the time halftime came to win the second meeting between the two teams this season.

Jared Diaz accounted for half of the Huskies’ goals with a hat trick and added two assists, while fellow senior Louis Horak also scored. Sophomore Jose Ramirez was also in fine form with two goals and an assist, while senior goalkeeper Ayden Havel made 10 saves.

With the win, Highland improves to 5-1, while Sigourney-Keota remains winless through six matches. SK next plays Tuesday against Chariton, while the Huskies return to action Monday versus Mediapolis.
