Pleasantview Home in Kalona hosted a health fair on Thursday, one which organizers with the University of Iowa School of Nursing said they hope will become a regular occurrence.

Approximately 25 Pleasantview residents and a handful of other Kalona residents cycled through the Pleasantview Friendship Center, where health care providers from across the area had gathered to present information. The event was split into two sessions: the first at 1 p.m. for Pleasantview residents and the second at 4 p.m. for the greater community.

Due to the low turnout in the second session, the fair closed early, including finishing before the planned keynote speech at 5 p.m.

Organizer Nora Sweeney said that she was happy with the Pleasantview turnout, although the numbers for the second session were lower than she anticipated. She went on to say that the College of Nursing was looking into making the event bi-annual and that she expected the event returning to Kalona in the fall.
