Both the Sigourney Savages and Keota Eagles were winners of boys’ golf duals Thursday in the South Iowa Cedar League. Sigourney defeated Montezuma by posting a combined team score of 151 strokes, an even 50 less than the Braves.

Junior Solon Yates was the meet medalist with a low round of 34 for the Savages, while sophomore Ike Molyneux was not far behind with 37 and senior Cain Weber shot a 38.

Junior Josh Wyatt added a 42 for Sigourney, while freshman Jordan Tremmel had a 44 and senior Isaac Bruns carded a 48 for a Savage squad that has now won four of their first five events of the season.

While there was no team competition against Montezuma, freshman Ella Bruns led the Sigourney girls with a 46. Senior Reagan Clarahan and freshman Ella Fineran each added a 50, while junior Kayla Renner fired a 52 and sophomore Adalynne Tremmel finished with 53. Senior Hannah Hanselman added a 54 for the Savages.

Keota got the home win against HLV in their boys’ dual with a team score of 178, more than 20 better than the Warriors. Senior Billie Kindred and sophomore Brennan McGuire each shot a 42 to pace the Eagles, while sophomores Porter Cave and Tucker Sprouse fired rounds of 45 and 49, respectively.

The Keota girls would drop their dual with HLV by just seven strokes, combining for a team score of 246. Senior Lainey Swanson had the Eagles’ low round of 45, with sophomore Emily Conger adding a 57.
