
The Washington Demons earned another conference victory in boys’ golf yesterday while hosting a meet at Washington Golf & Country Club. The Demons finished with a combined team score of 156 strokes, 12 less than second-place Fort Madison and 13 better than third-place Mount Pleasant.
Carson Brown was the meet medalist and led Washington by shooting an even-par 35, collecting birdies on the third, fifth and sixth holes to counter his three bogeys.
Fellow junior Drew Conrad was only stroke behind him for second overall and had a pair of birdies, while senior Cole Vetter fired a 42 and sophomore Ethan Peebler carded a 43.
Senior Conner Leyden added a 44 and sophomore Kaleb Orr finished with 50 as the Demons remain undefeated in Southeast Conference play this season. The Washington girls took fourth as a team at their conference meet yesterday at Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club, led by freshman Elizabeth Hora’s 14-over 50.
Senior Lauren Hinrichsen added a 57 for the Demon ladies, who next play Thursday in a tournament at Oskaloosa, while the boys are off until the Mohawk Invitational in Moravia on Friday.
