The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team saw things slip away in the second half of a River Valley Conference match Monday against the West Branch Bears, falling by a 3-2 final. The Hawks held a 2-1 advantage at the break, thanks to a pair of goals from team leader Meadow Flynn, her fifth and sixth of the season. One goal each from the Bears’ Grace Hamann, Melayna Burmeister and Katelyn Essington proved to be too much for the Golden Hawks to overcome. The Bears two-goal second half blitz happened in 48 seconds. West Branch won shots on goal 20-9. Niva Helmuth made 17 saves for the Golden Hawks in the loss. Zoey Curtiss and Ruth Witthoft had assists for the Mid-Prairie offense. The loss is the second straight Mid-Prairie, dropping them to 3-4-1 this year as the Bears improve to 3-2.
