
A man faces domestic assault and child endangerment charges following an incident in Lone Tree. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 1 a.m. on April 17th, the sheriff’s office responded to a domestic assault at a residence and located a victim with injuries consistent with strangulation.
The victim told authorities that Elmer Tovia Valencia Madrigal had assaulted her and put his hands around her neck, strangling her until she was nearly unconscious. There was a visible injury to her neck.
Children were home at the time of the incident. Valencia Madrigal lived with the victim and their biological minor children. He was taken to the Johnson County Jail. He was charged with domestic abuse assault – impeding flow of air/blood, an aggravated misdemeanor; child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor; and domestic abuse assault – injury or mental illness first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
An initial court appearance was held on April 17th and he was released on a $5,000 bond. A no contact order has been filed for the victim and children.
According to court records, in February he was arrested in Louisa County for operating while intoxicated second offense, and a pretrial conference for that charge has been set for July.
