
The Sigourney Savages won both of their South Iowa Cedar League duals Monday at Diamond Trail Golf Club against Lynnville-Sully. The Sigourney boys had another dominant showing to remain undefeated in conference play, finishing with a combined team score of 150 strokes that was almost 70 less than the Hawks.
Junior Solon Yates was the meet medalist and led Sigourney with an under-par round of 34, while senior Isaac Bruns and sophomore Ike Molyneux were tied for second by each shooting a 38 and senior Cain Weber, junior Josh Wyatt and freshman Jordan Tremmel each added a 40.
The team victory for the Savage girls came with a score of 214 that was 17 strokes better than Lynnville-Sully. Freshman Ella Bruns and sophomore Adalynne Tremmel split medalist honors by each carding 52, while senior Reagan Clarahan, junior Kayla Renner and freshman Ella Fineran tied for third by each finishing with 55.
Senior Hannah Hanselman added a 58 for Sigourney. Meanwhile, the WACO Warriors also took part in a league meet Monday with Southeast Iowa Super Conference rivals Mediapolis and Wapello at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club.
While they did not have enough players for a team score, freshman Ian Maize paced WACO and was tied for ninth overall by shooting a 49. Sophomore Malachi Rinner added a 50 for the Warrior boys, while junior Morgan Meyer finished fourth overall on the girls’ leaderboard with a 52.
