One person was arrested after a car was found fully engulfed in flames early Tuesday morning. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:44 a.m. authorities received a call of a vehicle on fire in a ditch near Orange Avenue and 180th Street, about seven miles north of Washington. 

A man was found walking north on the road. Authorities arrested Andy Roman of Palmdale, California, on a California Department of Corrections warrant of parole violation on the original charge of weapon offense with nationwide extradition and no bail. 

Roman was also cited for failure to maintain control, no proof of insurance, no drivers license, and leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to the Washington County Jail.

Kalona Fire Department, Kalona QRS, Washington County Ambulance, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, and Washington Police Department assisted at the scene.
