
Two local track teams are in action Thursday at Louisa-Muscatine High School for the Gardner-Wilson Relays.
The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls have been off since a trip to Central City last week where the girls finished as team runners-up and the boys were eighth of nine teams. Highlight events for Hillcrest included five championships for the Raven girls. Hillcrest was 1-2 in the 100 with a win for Rya Scott and a runner-up for Morgyn Nafziger. Marie Yoder won the 3000 with Siena Stanerson second. Scott added two more titles in the 200 and long jump. Stanerson was the 1500 winner. For the boys, titles went to Owen Scott in long jump and Kale Bailey in high jump.
The Columbus boys and girls last competed at Central City last Thursday. The Columbus boys kept their winning streak intact, piling up 208 points, 100 more than the second place home Wildcats. Top events for the ‘Cats included 1-2 finishes for Lamar Ceant and Alexander Rees in the 110 hurdles and 200 and a win for the shuttle hurdle team. At the same event, the Wildcat girls finished fourth as a team, led by a championship for Gabriella Duran in the 1500.
These two teams will be joined tonight by Central Lee, Van Buren, Wapello, West Burlington and the home Falcons. Action starts at 4:30p.m. And continues into the evening in Letts.
