Local law enforcement will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26th.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration will host a DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the United Presbyterian Church parking lot, at 209 East Main Street, in Washington.

The DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage. For your privacy, it is recommended that you place the pills in a zip-lock bag and dispose of the bottle at home.

There are many ways to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs every day, including 11,000 authorized collectors that are available all year long. For more information on these locations and safe prescription drug disposal, visit takebackday.dea.gov.
