
Local golf stars hit the links Wednesday at Heritage Oaks for the Wapello Invitational. In the boys event the Hillcrest Academy Ravens were team champions with their 330 score, beating second place Winfield-Mt. Union’s 358. Hillcrest was led by a 1-2 punch at the top with Liam Schrock winning the individual title on a 73 day and Rowan Miller second with a 79. Other Raven cards included Ethan Yoder fourth with an 87, Lawson Schrock 10th with 91, Matthew Chalupa 96, and Rylan Good 107.
WMU was second, led by Cody Milks and Nicholas Sparrow’s fourth place rounds of 87. Justin Knipfer was ninth at 88, Grant Anderson 94, Konner Kinneberg 95 and Max Edwards 102.
Columbus was fourth of six teams at 422. Leader was Ryan Coil 13th with a 96, followed by Payton White 100, Mason Hardy and Kason Dopler with 113s, Mason Heck 121 and Aiden Dohrmann 125.
Highland was sixth at 480. Isaac Giesmann had a team best 105 for 17th, followed by Presten Smith and Ryker Miller with 123s and Landon Roling and Tyson Grout 129s.
The Highland girls were team champions at Wapello Wednesday, beating the field with a 386, over second place Wapello’s 414. The Huskies had a 1-2 punch at the top with individual champion Adisyn Prottsman 88 and runner-up Emersyn Schultz 93. Other scores for Highland included Joslyn Prottsman 99, Adeline Krotz 102, Autumn Guseman 125 and Cassidy Duster 138.
Columbus was third of seven schools at 431.
Winfield-Mt. Union was sixth at 474, with Ashlyn Bender turning in a top round 101 for fifth, followed by Kellee Milks 10th at 112, Ella Kann 118, and Brynn Pogmore 143.
Hillcrest Academy’s 506 was seventh. Claire Withrow’s 116 led in 13th place, followed by Ava Miller 122, Brynna O’Rourke 126 and Izzy Frederick 142.
