Keota Eagle boys’ golf came away with the team championship Friday at the Tiger Tournament hosted by Iowa Valley High School at Marengo Golf Club. Keota’s combined team score came out to 324 strokes, 27 less than second-place HLV.

Sophomore Brennan McGuire led the Eagles with a one-over-par round of 73, while sophomore teammate Porter Cave shot a 79. Senior Billie Kindred fired an 81 for Keota, with Cooper Strand 10 strokes back at 91 and fellow sophomore Tucker Sprouse adding a 96.

The Sigourney Savages hosted an 18-hole tournament on Friday, and while they would end up fourth out of four teams in the overall scoring, junior Solon Yates was spectacular at his home course of Sigourney Golf Club, shooting a four-under-par 68 to lead the Savages.

Freshman Jordan Tremmel finished with 73 for Sigourney, while senior Isaac Bruns had a 76 and sophomore Ike Molyneux carded a 78. Junior Josh Wyatt posted an 83, while senior Cain Weber added an 85.

The WACO Warriors also took part in Sigourney’s tournament Friday. Sophomore Malachi Rinner had WACO’s top round with an 83, while freshman Ian Maize fired a 92.
