The regional pairings for softball have been released, and here is where the area teams will be playing.
In 4A, Washington is in Region four, in the top of the bracket. They get a bye for their first round and will play the winner of Fort Madison and Keokuk. In the bottom half of the bracket is Davenport North, North Scott and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
In 3A, Mid-Prairie and Columbus play each other in the first round at Kalona. Mid-Prairie is the top seed in the tournament. Also in region number five is Davenport Assumption, Camanche, West Liberty, Northeast, Williamsburg and Mount Vernon.
In 2A Highland will be in region five as the top seeded team. They get a bye for round one and will play the winner of Van Buren and Cardinal. In the bottom of the bracket with Highland is Iowa Valley, West Branch and Pekin. Teams in the top half of the bracket are Pella Christian, Eddyville-Blakesburg, North Mahaska, Louisa-Muscatine, Wapello and Iowa City Regina.
In 1A region five holds most of the area schools, with Sigourney getting a bye in the first round, and willplay BGM or Montezuma, and IMS got a bye and will play Lone Tree or Tri-County. Keota plays in the first round against English Valleys and the winner will travel to Lynnville-Sully. The other three teams in this region are Belle Plain, HLV and Lisbon.
In region six of 1A WMU plays Danville in round one and the winner faces WACO in the second round. The other teams in this region are Harmony, Moulton-Udell, New London, Moravia, Melcher-Dallas, Twin Cedars, Grandview Park Baptist, Pleasantville and Earlham.
Regional play in 1A starts July 8, for 2A and 3A July 9, and for 4A July 11. KCII will bring you live post season coverage throughout the tournament as these teams try and make it to state.
