The proposed ATV ordinance was discussed at the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting and the second reading was passed on a 4 to 1 vote. Supervisor Bob Yoder spoke in favor of lowering the speed limit for ATVs to 25 miles per hour while on level B county roads. Also, County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained that they cannot be driven on the shoulders of paved roads.

Supervisor Jack Seward stated that the county’s ordinance mirror’s House File 619, although Washington County Public Health Director Danielle Pettit-Majewski stated that the file is in a committee in the Senate due to safety concerns.

The board will hold the third reading of the ordinance next week.
