press play to hear from Washington resident John Greener
Washington’s Planning and Zoning Commission is recommending that the city council vacate part of Sitler Drive to accommodate a new high-school campus. P&Z Chairman Matt Miller says the commission’s recommendation includes improving South Avenue E and Tyler, because they would have to carry the brunt of traffic heading to the cemetery. Nearby resident John Greener says closing Sitler would be a big mistake. He says closing Sitler would “destroy neighborhoods.” Councilors have approved moving forward with the commission’s recommendations provided they are acceptable to the streets committee and engineering department.
