A bridge on G38 will be replaced this spring. The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a contract for about $937,000 to replace the bridge over Dutch Creek on G38, about 10 miles west of Washington. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained the project replaces the existing bridge with 163 foot long, 30 foot wide bridge. Doing this prevents a weight restriction from being placed there, which would impact area farmers.

Three bids were received and the contract was awarded to Iowa Bridge and Culvert of Washington. The highest bid was over $1.1 million.
