It’s been a big week for Mid-Prairie wrestler Levi Duwa.
On Saturday, Feburary 13th during the district tournament at Clear Creek Amana High School, Duwa, a junior, captured his 100th career victory, pinning Logan Knutson of Williamsburg in just 58 seconds.
Duwa began his run toward 100 wins with his first career victory on December 21st, 2013 when he scored a pin in just 37 seconds over Drew Lenz of Dubuque Wahlert at the North Linn Invitational. Duwa’s 50th career win came in the 2015 sectional semifinals on February 7th, 2015 when he beat Jacob Reid of Benton Community by fall in 58 seconds. Duwa is a two time state qualifier, making the trip to Des Moines in both 2015 and 2016. His career record at the state tournament is 5-3 with an appearance in this year’s state championship match.
With Duwa’s 2016 state tournament run, he is the first Golden Hawk to reach a state championship match in 22 years. Duwa is the eighth Golden Hawk in program history to join the 100 win club. He is the third Mid-Prairie wrestler to reach the milestone this year, joining teammates Duncan McCain and Cameron Tolander in the feat.
