The head coach of the Highland Huskies girls’ basketball team (18-6 overall) has been recognized for his team’s improved effort this season. At the recent Southeast Iowa Super Conference North all-conference meeting, Highland’s Jodi Fink and Pekin’s Davis Eidahl were named to share the honor of SEISC North Coach of the year.
The Huskies won 18 games this season, a three-win improvement from last year. Fink’s team had three players named to the first team all-conference squad, including senior Cheyanne Adamson, junior Kelsey Hora, and freshman Ali Stokes.
Three of the Huskies’ six losses this season came against Eidahl’s Panthers. Pekin, who won 24 of the 25 games they’ve played this season, opens the Class 2A state tournament this evening versus the Okoboji Pioneers (23-1 overall).
