Iowa’s drought conditions have not changed from last week to this week. Currently, Iowa is not experiencing any drought conditions. According to the U.S. Drought monitor, at this time last year, 7.71 percent of the state was abnormally dry. Currently, across all of the Midwest, less than one percent is abnormally dry, and that area is in northern Minnesota.
Locally, river levels include the English River at Kalona at five feet, well below the 14 foot flood stage. The Iowa River is at 10 feet near Lone Tree, 15.31 feet at Columbus Junction and 17.29 feet at Wapello – all sites are at least 2.5 feet below flood stage.
