RAGBRAI, sewers and the municipal building will be discussed at tonight’s Washington City Council meeting. The first reading of the 2016 RAGBRAI ordinance will be held. Under the proposed ordinance on July 29th and 30th, no for-profit person will be able to provide or sell goods to the public in Washington at a location other than their regularly-established place of business unless they have purchased an $850 commercial food booth permit from the Washington RAGBRAI Committee. The fee for non-profit vendor booths is $350.
The council will also consider a sewer request on West Main Street which has six residential properties and two businesses which use septic tanks currently. The estimated cost is just over $200,000.
Also, the council will discuss and consider the municipal building process, which includes what to do with the former library building and potential options for more space for the fire department, city hall and police department.
The special session meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Washington Public Library.
