Severe weather awareness week is being observed in Iowa this week. Each day of the week has a focus: Monday was severe thunderstorms, Tuesday is receiving warning information, Wednesday is tornadoes, Thursday is family preparedness and Friday is flooding.

Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith wants people to be vigilant and remain safe by having situational awareness. He recommends thinking ahead so you know where to find shelter should you need to, whether you’re at home, at the pool or at a little league game.

The KCII Severe Weather Action Team will bring you live coverage of any severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings in Washington County, regardless of what time of day they may hit the area. For more information listen to today’s Washington Page with Smith and listen to KCII for weather updates and severe weather coverage.
