Forecast weather has forced the Williamsburg Community School District to cancel the Raider Invitational. No make up date has been agreed upon.

For the first time this season, the Washington Demon boys’ and girls’ track teams will compete in the same meet. The squads are set to take part in the Raider Invitational, hosted by Williamsburg High School.

The teams participating in the boys’ meet include Grinnell, Iowa Mennonite School, Lisbon, Mid-Prairie, Oskaloosa, Solon, Vinton-Shellsburg, and Williamsburg. The Washington boys’ track team was last in competition Thursday, taking part in the non-scored Mount Pleasant Co-Ed Track Meet.

The girls meet features teams from Belle Plaine, Grinnell, Iowa Mennonite School, Mid-Prairie, Mount Vernon High, Solon and Williamsburg. The Demon girls’ track team last competed in the Bullette Relays Thursday in Mediapolis. Washington finished in the middle of the pack in the team standings, taking fourth place with 81 points. The Demons collected a pair of third place finishes in the field events, and recorded four top-three finishes in relays. Washington’s shuttle hurdle team of Carolan Hoffman, Mackenzie Knutson, Jessie Buchholz and Emma Wood was the only first place finish Thursday, clocking a time of 1:13.52.

First events of the Raider Invitational are set for 4:45 p.m. today at Williamsburg High School.
